Anne and I were discussing Ewoks and Gelflings today and I just had to share the following Anne quote: "Well, at least i can say I didn't like them just because they were cute. I liked the fact that they are all family and loyal .... and being pursued by big ugly things always helps when you want to root for someone."
Flack:Hi m4dd4wg, I'm doing a press survey on Enterprise Information Portals, EIP, and I wondered if you could answer five questions for me?
m4dd4wg:OK, but make it quick...
Flack: Thanks, m4dd4wg, first, what is your definition of a portal?
m4dd4wg: Hmmm, I guess a portal is an e-business infrastructure that performs real time content aggregation.
Flack:Hmmm... And what EIP vendors are you familiar with?
m4dd4wg: Ummm Microsoft and Lotus are the only ones I know about, but portals aren't usually something that fall in my lap.
Flack: That's OK, and who do you see as the leaders in the portal space?
m4dd4wg: Like I said, I'm not super familiar with this market, but I'd have to say Lotus has a pretty nice product.
Flack: Thanks, and what do you think the purpose of EIP is?
m4dd4wg: I think portals allow a company to tell their stockholders that they have a portal initiative, and its going to revolutionize the way they do business, you know, its for the stockholders.
Flack: errrrrmm..
m4dd4wg: I guess they allow for the quick dissemination of corporate information assets throughout the enterprise.
Flack: Thanks! And where do you see the future of portals? m4dd4wg: I think in 18 months they're going to be the big joke, you know (in a hillbilly accent)"remember back in 2000, when we all had to have a portal? Har Har Har!
Flack: Um yeah, well, thanks for your time!
