I've been doing some research about web design. I'm particularly interested in patterns. So far I haven't found as much as I'd hoped but I will keep looking. The most useful site so far is:
http://www.welie.com/patterns/
Unfortunately, I am more interested in the lower level problems. It seems safe to say that all moderately complex sites will be driven programmatically. Where are the web programming patterns, then? The problem that most irritates me with it's intractability is the separation of code, content, and presentation. It seems like there should be a known good practice (pattern) for this.
The perl code that drives most of the sites I've put together for the university is hard enough to look at by itself. Add the clutter of HTML and it turns in to a real nightmare.
Maybe I'm not thinking about this the right way.
I ran across ++pitchforkmedia while hitting the ++infobong. I've started going through their reviews and listening the albums. So far it's been pretty hit and miss but I have to mention Basement Jaxx's new album, kish kash. It's dancey as all hell but well worth a listen. It's just plain fun.
I have moved the database from a TU server that's being retired to m.net. Thanks to Jaeger for the hosting and help.
