Jared's brain. 09.27.00

I'm broke. I mean really, genuinely, unforgivingly broke. If you've ever been here, and I know most of you have, then you know how big a pain in the butt it is. I don't want to start whining here so I'm going to talk about the overall money/material-wealth issue for a minute.

This is likely to make me a very unpopular person but oh well. I have one, what I consider to be really important, thing to say about this topic: Money does grow on trees. Obviously, I don't mean this literally but consider for a moment. All it takes is a little iniative. I mean look at the people who are making a living following rennaissance(?) fairs. That doesn't take a degree in rocket-science or even any brains (Although a lot of the people I've met that do this are not short on them, by any stretch of the imagination). All they are doing is figuring out something they can do or, better yet, like doing, and how to make it pay the bills.

Another example: those guys that sell stuff on the street. They may not be making much, but hell, they are making a little and sometimes that's all you need.

I've talked about this before, but letting yourself get wrapped up in material possessions or their purer form, money, is a trap. If you don't have money don't waste your cycles worrying about it, spend a few of them trying to figure out how to get some... I bet you it will pan out. If you just can't afford some new gewgaw, think about it this way: That's just one more piece of crap you will have to move when it comes time to head elsewhere.

*steps off the soapbox*

Man, I need a taller soapbox. :)

One other thing today: RF. Ugh. It seems to me that our frequency spectrum is getting awfully crowded. Between cell phones, radio, tv, etc there's a lot of crap in our air. I can't think this is good. Of course there is always noise in these frequencies but not this well ordered or of this much power. Anyway, I'm probably just being alarmist. Oh well. Any thoughts?

Some stuff

Plug o' the day: Go read my brother's web pages. The Hunter. There's not a whole lot there but what is might be useful, plus Matt is full of entertaining ideas.

My musical recommendation for the day is anything by the Andrews Sisters. This is stuff your parents and grand-parents will recognize. Form a bond, listen to some shared music. Of course, aside from just being great stuff, these tunes are being sampled and looped mercilessly. You should at least hear it from the source.

Oooh... two musical recommendations in one day. Madness, I tell you! Go out and find a copy of the soundtrack from Clockwork Orange. This is likely to be a challenge but it is well worth it. Of course, if you can't find it there are always those Damn Dirty Mp3s.

WWJD? I don't know. But if you are interested enough in this question to put stickers on your car or buy a shirt then I suggest you go ask him. I'm guessing the answer won't involve cutting me off in your lexus because you are on the phone.

Ironically, this is actually an interesting question from a historical standpoint. Find a bible scholar or historian and learn something. You might be surprised. As a marketing ploy, however, it is an abomination.

I have been asked to attribute my song quotes. I will but I have to say it was more fun to make you guess.
