Today marks the one-year anniversary of the headspace. I think that's kinda nifty. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.

I live across the street from an OHP officer; Antonio. He's a nice guy. I don't mind that he calls the cops every time I have a party or people park badly in front of my house. That's everyone's right. On the handful of occasions I have spoken with him he has always said something interesting. He has a family... a wife and three charming kids. Nice folks.

This morning when I left for work there was a huge blue trash dumpster in front of his house. Not just one of the little ones you see behind convenience stores... this is a monster. The kind of thing you would need a semi to move. It's truly a wonderous refuse receptacle.

Consider for a moment that my neighborhood is composed entirely of the late fifties early sixties ranch-style homes that curse large portions of suburbia. Most range in size from 1500 to 2000 square feet. Now consider the dumpster in front of Antonio's house. It is, in all likelihood, about 300 square feet. That's a high trash to house ratio, im my opinion. Good grief.

I must admit that I am a little envious. I can imagine the sense of accomplishment you must get from freeing yourself and your home of that much detritus. I always have this vague sense that every bit of stuff that I bring home is a little lodestone that adds to the overall gravitational field of the house. One day the pull of all these little things will become too strong to escape. I might just be being melodramatic.

I'm once again fishing for new music. If you have heard something cool, good, or both lately please let me know.

So. I spend a lot of time telling you about my problems and roadblocks. Now I want to hear about yours. What kinds of issues are you wrestling with yourself over? What's up in your head? Know thyself. :)

Love,
-Loop

If you like Moby at all I definitely recommend you check out the Play DVD. It's pretty cool. It has all of the videos that have been produced for Play, some live stuff, remixes, and like 30 minutes of Moby being a complete and total dork. Entertaining stuff.

The Dumpster
Is your neighbor remodeling his house? I usually see dumpsters like that outside commercial office space when they're redoing the interior for a new tenant.

My record of the moment is Dusk at Cubist Castle by the Olivia Tremor Control. I know its about five years old, but I bought Black Foliage when it came out, and while I was absolutely amazed, I didn't feel like I needed more music like it. Dusk is a lot less hysterical and a lot more accessible.

The other thing I must recommend to everyone is Astralwerk's Neu! reissues. In college I spent

I thought I would clarify - when I used "clean" to describe Neu!'s music, I didn't mean "unprocessed" but "clean" in the way that Scandinavian furniture is clean.

Also, if you're lookin' for down-n-dirty garage rock, you can't go wrong with The White Stripes, although they're pretty over-exposed now. De Stijl is the one to start with.
