I just heard a great show on npr today. It's called Loose Leaf Book Company. This is the first time I have heard it but I definitely think it's something I'll be able to recommend. It's an radio show for adults about children's books (perhaps young-adults more appropriately). If it plays on your local npr affiliate you might give it a listen. It was neat. I'll post a URL below.

The time has come for me to return to the mall. Let me explain. About once every three months I get this incredibly strong urge to go and watch the people shopping in the mall. I don't buy many mall-type items. When I shop I tend to purchase geek lifestyle items... computer parts, consumer electronics, knock-off swedish furniture, etc. Not really your normal mall inventory... at least in Tulsa. Once in a blue moon when I am forced to purchase clothing I will grudgingly head to the temple of commerce with intent to buy.
Usually I just go to watch people shop. I find it strangely cathartic. People in the mall seem to be so happy and wrapped up in their lives... yet intensely involved with one another. The mall creates a fantasy environment that exists nowhere else in the world. It's good stuff.

Speaking of catharsis, I really miss the beach. When I lived in Houston I would frequently drive down to Galveston and just bum around on the beach. The ocean is soothing.
Great quote from the radio program I've been blathering about:
...No, the Internet is like young love, because it's passionate, energetic, and pretty much empty headed...
The people I went with were supposed to meet people at a bar there. It looked like a cross between Incahoots and MTV Spring Break, complete with faux tiki huts. Not surprisingly, there were a lot of cheesy people there.
We drank Coronas in the sand, then played in the waves. Ocean water is really salty. It was a lot of fun.
When we got home, we found out a shark killed someone that day.
