I've been doing some reading about food lately. The situation there is sort of alarming. I have, as a result, resolved to eat better. No more fast food or chain restaurants. My rules of thumb for buying foods will be to look for organic ingredients and foods with the least number of additive and none of the additives that people suspect are harmful. Wild Oats here I come.

If nothing else, it will be an interesting experiment.

In other news, work is going a bit badly right now. Not in any concretely definable way... just the normal vague lack of motivation. I'm in the process of thinking through some things I can do to improve the situation.

I just found out today that one of our best administrators is leaving us. Congrats to him! I wish him the best of luck. He has always impressed me as being very involved in and dedicated to doing his job well. It would serve me well to emulate his desire to understand and improve the processes of his college. (My apologies for being a bit vague but I'm not sure how public this knowlege is intended to be)

One thing I have learned while working for the uni is that we have zero understanding of processes. It's a wonder we're nominally solvent. If we were a private corporation we most likely wouldn't be. It boggles the mind.

Instead of eating at fast food joints, just make cheesecakes, cookies, creme brulee, gelato, tiramisu, and croisant (sp?). You'll have tons of energy & you'd be sure to get your daily dose of refined sugar; the most important food group in my pyramid. Plus, they taste better than all that whole foods shit.

Oh yeah, if you get a craving for vegetables, just eat hot dogs. The vitamin deficiencies will clear themselves up in a few days with some dietary persistance.

If you find it difficult to cut out the fast food, I highly recommend you read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. After reading that book, it should be no effort at all to skip those kinds of food. :)
