I haven't read any of Margaret Atwood's books but her recent letter to America makes me wish I had. Well said!

I went to see the Crystal Method this weekend at Cain's. It was a fun show. The opening acts were a series of three really solid local DJs. Very nice sets. Very danceable (if you can dance... I can't but I did). I was somewhat disappointed in the Crystal Method. They did a great DJ set but didn't play anything I knew. Ironically, Beanie and I finally got bored and left midway through their set.
I guess I should have known what to expect. The last time I saw the Crystal Method was during the Community Service Tour. That was an incredible show... but it was intended to be a HUGE deal. This weekend's show was probably more typical for electronic acts.
Beanie said something telling: (paraphrase) "Who, in our parents' generation would have ever thought we would be going to concerts with no instruments?" Not only were there no instruments but there was very little original music.
Pluggage (to luggage as pleather is to leather): Everstar is bloggin it these days. The site looks great and there is new, wry commentary for you amusement. Good stuff! This post contains what has to be the finest description of anime I have ever read.
did we really tell lies... letting in the sunshine... did we really count to one hundred
Man. What a drag.
I'm fortunate in that jaeger manages m.net well so I rarely have to worry about server outages. Our cable, on the other hand, is not so reliable. What a crappy confluence (is that the word I want?) of events.
I was going to comment on James Brown and I totally forgot. All I have to say is Kick ass! You'll have to give us a report. The godfather of soul serenades the rodeo. I love it!
The Crystal Method concert was fun, although I felt a little too old to be there with all of the 14-18 year olds running around, acting like they were trying to get laid. It was totally weird to watch. I had a good time and then felt like an old fart because we left before the concert was over, but I was ready to go! We'd been there for about 5 hours (both of us dancing which is a sight to behold!) and to tell the truth, my legs, feet, and ass hurt. I was ready to go home. I'm getting oooooold and I'm only 24. :( On another note, I love Margaret Atwood. She has some really kick ass poetry and a lovely grasp of the English language that I find completely refreshing. The last book of hers that I tried to read was a little weird at times (but then again, so was "The Handmaid's Tale") and I didn't have the time to finish it, but will try again later. "Handmaid's Tale", as a whole, is a very depressing dystopian view of the world or the way it's headed, but there were descriptions in that book that made me shiver from the sheer beauty of them. Needless to say, I think she kicks a LOT of ass and I was really excited to read her essay. She's right on the money with her view, imho.
