I spent the entire day today wishing that I had a turntable. This is odd considering that I generally believe that, as nice as turntables are, it's time to move on. There's just something too conceptually satisfying about records. Perhaps it's the physicality. I haven't played one in probably fifteen years and I miss them. I guess it's just too hard to beat the convenience of cds and mp3s. It does strike me as a shame, though, that none of the new, higher fidelity formats seem to be catching on.

I think watching this little piece about the amen break is what got me lusting after turntables. Incidentally, this is kind of an interesting essay about a very famous 6 seconds of drums that you'd likely recognize. You might give it a listen. If nothing else, it's amazingly relaxing.

I bought a humidifier today. It's a stupid thing with which to encumber one's self. On the other hand I'm freaking tired of my skin cracking and my nose bleeding. That's just gross.

I feel somewhat obligated to link this. Even if you've never played World of Warcraft it's funny.
